Three new aerial rides coming up in Jebel Jais
Ras Al Khaimah: Adventure seekers can look forward to three new aerial rides now taking shape beside the world’s longest zipline at Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest mountain.
The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) on Wednesday announced the start of construction on a flagship adventure tourism product — the Jebel Jais Zipline Tour — located in the Toroverde Adventure Park.
The three exhilarating experiences are scheduled to open in February 2019, according to the authority. “We are excited to commence construction on three new exhilarating experiences: the Zipline Tour, which will feature seven ziplines flying over Jebel Jais from top to bottom, connected by hanging bridges, rappel style cables, and creatively designed platforms resembling bird’s nests, to give an exceptional feeling of closeness to nature,” said Ricardo Lizano, COO of Toroverde.
The second ride, to be launched in the second quarter of 2019, will be the Bull Maze at the Viewing Deck Park consisting of a field of 35 difficult obstacles suspended in the air, spread over three floors of a structure 20-metres in height, that will challenge each participant to pushing their limits.
The Climbing Tower at the Viewing Deck Park, to be launched during the same period, will feature activities ranging from easy climbs for kids to spiral stairs and exciting free falls, utilising the latest technology to test the abilities of extreme thrill seekers.
“Launching the enhanced adventure park in the first half of 2019 will bring us one step closer to becoming an internationally recognised destination, as we aim to attract three million visitors by 2025,” Haitham Mattar, CEO of RAKTDA.
The launch of the new adventure park is a testament of Ras Al Khaimah’s ongoing efforts to expand and develop its adventure tourism offering, in what is fast becoming known as the region’s adventure tourism hub.
Jebel Jais Flight, the world’s longest zipline, has welcomed over 18,000 riders since its official launch earlier this year, while a 47-villa Luxury Mountain Camp and a Survival Training Academy are due to break ground in early 2019.
Visitors and residents now have easier access to the UAE’s highest mountain, with the launch of a shuttle service from the heart of the destination. The shuttle makes the World’s Longest Zipline, the Viewing Deck Park and the Adventure Park even more accessible for everyone.
